Friday was exciting for fans of the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers for varying reasons. The Suns provided a thrilling finish with a last-second one-point overtime win at New Orleans. The Lakers surprised many with a double-digit home victory over the Golden State Warriors. On Sunday night, the two youngest teams in the Pacific Division get together for the first time this season when the Suns visit the Lakers. The Suns have won two of their first six games and are getting significant production from Devin Booker, who is averaging 19.5 points after a solid rookie campaign. The second-year guard scored 38 points and hit two-game-tying baskets late in regulation in Fridays 112-111 win decided on P.J. Tuckers inbounds pass to T.J. Warren for the game-winning backdoor dunk.It was hard to say which was more impressive, the dunk or the fact Tucker was defended by Anthony Davis.Tuck, man, made a phenomenal play, Warren said. It was an amazing pass, using his basketball IQ. It was just a perfect play.It was the second straight overtime victory for the Suns and their third overtime game of the week. Phoenix also is the fifth team in NBA history to play three overtime games through the first six games of a season and has won consecutive overtime games for the first time since Feb. 27-28, 2011.We play this game at the end of every practice called 95-95, Suns coach Earl Watson said. The team that reaches 100 in two minutes wins, so we are used to this. I dont mean for it to go into overtime every two games. I like the fact that our guys never stop fighting. The Lakers are coming off seasons of 17 and 21 wins, respectively. Last year, Los Angeles needed 18 games to get its third win and in 2014-15, it took 12 games for the Lakers to reach three wins.Honestly, were looking at the big picture and the big picture isnt beating Golden State and then losing Sunday night at home, Los Angeles coach Luke Walton said. The big picture is we make it really hard on teams that come into Staples Center and get wins, and so far weve had two home games against two really good teams and won both.Los Angeles reached its third win by getting 20 points apiece from Lou Williams and Julian Randle in a 117-97 blowout of the Warriors. Randle shot 10 of 18 from the floor and had a key block of Draymond Green at the rim while Williams had at least 10 points in the fourth quarter for the third straight game.Hes a monster, Walton said of Randle, who is shooting 59 percent this season. I mean he is. Hes as big, strong and quick as anyone in the league. It also was Los Angeles third win against a team who made the postseason last year. The Lakers opened the season by beating the Houston Rockets and before Friday also won in Atlanta. Its a good start for us, and its a great win for us, Randle said. It shows how good we can be, but weve got to continue to build on it.Los Angeles held Golden State to 5-of-32 from behind the arc and is allowing opponents to make 27.9 percent of their 3-pointers.Phoenix has won 11 of the last 13 meetings with the Lakers. Sunday is the first meeting between the teams without Kobe Bryant on the roster since April 14, 1996, when Cedric Ceballos scored 23 points in a 118-114 Los Angeles win at the Inglewood Forum. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to their past to potentially find their future head coach.General manager Dave Caldwell said Monday that former New York Giants Tom Coughlin would be somebody wed be interested in talking to about the teams coaching vacancy. The Jaguars (2-12) fired Gus Bradley after the franchises ninth consecutive loss Sunday. Bradley went 14-48 in four seasons in Jacksonville, the worst winning percentage (.225) of any NFL coach with at least 60 games. The 70-year-old Coughlin was Jacksonvilles first head coach, leading the Jaguars to a 68-60 record in eight seasons (1995-2002). Coughlin resigned last January after 12 seasons with the Giants, but has made it clear he wants to return to the NFL. He is currently serving as a senior adviser to the leagues football operations department.Caldwell could give him a shot at getting back on the sidelines.Toms a great man and a great person, and well see where it goes, Caldwell said. There will be a lot of guys were interested in talking to.Coughlin won two Super Bowls with the Giants and led them to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons (2005-08).Hes got so much experience on myself or on any coach that we have in this building and hes a great individual, so I think you can always learn from people, Caldwell said. Theres always a place for knowledge.Caldwell said head coaching experience would be helpful for Bradleys successor. But he didnt rule out hiring someone without any.I dont want to avoid a candidate if he doesnt have it because you can be overlooking a great future head coach, Caldwell said. Experience is critical, even with our players. Our players are young, but they may lack experience in certain areas and I think experience is invaluable.Caldwell picked offensive line coach Doug Marrone as the teams interim coach for the final two games. Marrone went 15-17 in two seasons (2013-14) as Buffalos head coach.Marrone wont make any major changes when he holds his first team meeting Tuesday. Hes even sticking with quarterback Blake Bortles, who was the main reason for Jacksonvilles offensive struggles this season.Caldwell remains committed to and confident in Bortles, but said he wont mandate that the new coach be dedicated to keeping Bortles under center. Bortles is tied for second in the NFL with 20 turnovers, and his sloppy mechanics have caused inaccuracy and inconsistency all season.dddddddddddd He also has been playing through a shoulder injury.I always feel its the coachs responsibility to play who he feels like gives us the best chance to win, with anybody, Caldwell said. I still believe Blake gives us the best chance to win on Sundays. I know hes fighting through a lot of different things from a health standpoint.Caldwell declined to name any other coaching candidates aside from Coughlin and Marrone.Former San Francisco 49ers coach and current Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley should get consideration, too.Caldwell acknowledged that part of the reason Khan fired Bradley with two games remaining was to get a jump on the coaching search, especially after the Los Angeles Rams parted ways with Jeff Fisher last week.Khan and Caldwell discussed potential scenarios at the owners meetings in Dallas and decided later in the week to fire Bradley following Sundays game at Houston, win or lose. There are some dynamics that when the ball started rolling that we didnt want to be left behind, Caldwell said.Bradley met with local media for more than 35 minutes Monday. He held court inside a conference room at the Sawgrass Marriott in nearby Ponte Vedra Beach, going into detail about his professional shortcomings. He expressed no hard feelings toward the franchise and got emotional near the end of the session. He sat in complete silence for 15 seconds when asked his one regret from a four-year failure.Id just like to be here with this team when its successful, Bradley said. The regret I have is not seeing these players (win). When you go through something thats hard and then you come through it and you have success and you say, `Thats why we do it. Look at where it took you. ...I regret (that) because I do believe thats going to happen. I regret not being here to see that.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
