DALLAS -- Reggie Jackson took another step forward in his return from a knee injury.Jackson scored 20 points -- a season high in his sixth game -- and Andre Drummond led a dominant rebounding effort with 17 as the Detroit Pistons beat the Dallas Mavericks 95-85 on Wednesday night.Detroits floor leader had nine points and three of his six assists in the fourth quarter, when the Pistons finished a run that started late in the third to overcome a 12-point Dallas lead. Jackson missed the first 21 games this season recovering from left knee tendinitis.Thats the player he can be, said teammate Jon Leuer, who scored a season-high 19 points. Thats the player we need him to be because he is a great floor general and a good leader for us.Leuer was a plus-25 off the bench as the Pistons beat the team with the worst record in the Western Conference three nights after losing to Philadelphia, the last-place team in the East.Drummond grabbed 10 rebounds in the first 7 1/2 minutes and the Pistons had a 29-9 edge on the boards at halftime and 50-30 for the game. The 6-foot-11 center had more rebounds than Dallas by himself until the middle of the third quarter, when the Mavericks finally went ahead 15-14.Harrison Barnes led the Mavericks with 19 points. The Pistons went on a 27-5 run covering about 10 minutes in the third and fourth quarters, turning a 64-52 deficit into their first double-digit lead at 79-69 after an alley-oop layup by Aron Baynes with about 5 minutes remaining.Dallas Wesley Matthews had a season-low four points on 2-of-10 shooting, ending a three-game stretch with at least 25 points. Deron Williams scored 16 but was just 3 of 13 as one of the NBAs worst-shooting teams finished at 41 percent, just below its average. This one was frustrating tonight because we had control of the game for most of it, Matthews said. So well learn from it and look at what went wrong.Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had seven of his 11 points in the fourth quarter, including a 3-pointer when the Mavericks were within four points with about 3 minutes remaining.TIP-INSPistons: Drummond had at least 15 rebounds for the 11th time in 25 games. ... Baynes had 10 rebounds and eight points. ... Jacksons previous season high was 18 points in his debut Dec. 4 against Orlando.Mavericks: Barnes was Dallas leading scorer for the 13th time in 25 games. ... Williams was 9 of 9 on free throws. ... The Mavericks had a season-high 13 steals.ANOTHER DALLAS INJURYMavericks center Salah Mejri, who led the team with eight rebounds, injured his left ankle in the fourth quarter and didnt return. He said an X-ray didnt show any damage but he planned to get an MRI on Thursday. Dallas is already missing starter Andrew Bogut with a right knee injury, and theres no timetable for his return.Star forward Dirk Nowitzki missed his 10th straight game and 18th out of 20 with a strained right Achilles tendon. Key backup guard J.J. Barea missed his 15th straight with a left calf strain.HOW WAS IT TIED?The Pistons were tied 43-all at halftime despite the huge rebounding edge and holding two Dallas starters scoreless, in part because of 13 turnovers to just three for the Mavericks. Besides the turnovers, even the ones we didnt turn the ball over, we had a lot of sloppy possessions that we didnt get good shots because we didnt handle the ball well, coach Stan Van Gundy said.UP NEXTPistons: Friday at Washington, where Detroit has lost four straight games.Mavericks: Friday at Utah, where Dallas lost 97-81 to drop to 0-4 on the way to a franchise-worst 0-5 start.Cheap Giants Jerseys . Now come the interesting questions for corporate America. Will Michael Phelps, who has a new family, be motivated to cash in? Which company will win the Simone Biles sweepstakes? Will Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel and Sydney McLaughlin be lured from school for a financial windfall? Here are my rankings of the endorsement prospects for U.S. Olympic standouts:1. Michael Phelps, swimmerAlthough he might be retired, he firmly established himself as the greatest Olympian of all time. Phelps, who has 23 Olympic gold medals, doesnt love making speeches, long the bread and butter of Olympic champions. But he can clean up for years at corporate events. Under Armour couldnt go all out with its marketing of Phelps during the Games, but it will be interesting to see how big they can grow him. Something to watch might be his swimwear partner, Aqua Sphere, trying to grow the MP logo and signing swimmers to deals to compete against Speedo and Arena.2. Simone Biles, gymnastThe most golden gymnast in a single Olympics with four golds, Biles has a chance to make a mint. Expect her representatives at Octagon, which also represents Phelps, to sign four-year deals that will take her beyond the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Companies have been leery about throwing too much future cash at American gymnastics stars because theres always someone new four years later, but Biles dominance in Rio will help alleviate that. Dont expect Procter & Gamble, Hersheys or Nike to give up what they already bought in Biles, who has 2.5 million Instagram followers.3. Katie Ledecky, swimmerPhelps or no Phelps, Ledecky is the most dominant swimmer in the world. She is going to Stanford, which means she cant take any endorsement deals immediately, but perhaps the lesson of Missy Franklin will make Ledecky a free agent sooner. Franklin was a swimming star of the 2012 Games but didnt take money after it so she could swim at Cal. In Rio, she failed to even make an individual final. Ledecky might swim one year at Stanford before turning pro. The swimsuit battle for Ledecky will be the most hotly contested marketing war for a woman that the market has ever seen.4. Simone Manuel, swimmerA company landing the other Simone is hardly a consolation prize. The first African-American swimmer to win an individual gold medal (in the 50-meter freestyle) also attends Stanford, but theres a possibility, like with Ledecky, that shell quickly move to the pro ranks. Manuel already gave a fun and free post-Olympics endorsement when she returned home and plugged Shipley Do-Nuts on social media.5. Aly Raisman, gymnastCaptain of the gold medal-winning Fierce Five in 2012 and Final Five in Rioo, Raisman will get deals for her strong past (she earned four individual-event medals at the two Games combined) and will have a nice speaking career if she wants.dddddddddddd Because of her age, 22, she will likely lose out on some endorsements to younger teammates Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez.6. Ashton Eaton, track and fieldEaton capitalized on his first gold in the decathlon in London and was prominently featured by Nike and United leading up to and throughout the Rio Games. While the title of worlds best athlete is his again, its really the worlds fastest man (100 meters) who draws most of the marketing dollars. But, out of any U.S. Olympian, he is the most impressive in person and will get significant dollars if he chooses to go for a third gold in 2020.7. Sydney McLaughlin, track and fieldContinuing the theme of companies not being able to get what they want, McLaughlin -- who just turned 17 -- likely wont turn pro until she finishes high school next year. But with Allyson Felix closing out her career and no one else really emerging on the track the way U.S. swimmers have, McLaughlin is a good investment. In Rio, she made it to the semis in the 400-meter hurdles.8. Ryan Murphy, swimmerThere are plenty of young American female swimmers. Not so much on the mens team. Nathan Adrian is 27, and fellow medalist Anthony Ervin is 35. Ryan Lochte, after his bizarre nonrobbery scandal, isnt getting any new endorsements anytime soon, even if he comes back for 2020. That leaves us with the 21-year-old Murphy, who destroyed the competition on his way to winning gold in the 100- and 200-meter backstrokes.9. Danell Leyva, gymnastLeyva, who won the bronze in the all-around in London, took home two individual silvers in Rio. Hes 24, which means he could be back in 2020. The Cuban native is bilingual, a major plus for brands.10. Lilly King, swimmerKing was upstaged by Ledecky and Manuel, but her bold stance against her main competitor, Russian Yulia Efimova, in the 100-meter breaststroke did two things: It was reminiscent of the old Cold War sports battles, and it was one of the boldest statements an active athlete had ever made about a competitor who had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Efimova tested positive in 2013 and was suspended from the sport. Kings stance and victory over Efimova, combined with her sense of nationalism, made her stand out and boosted her Twitter following tenfold in a matter of weeks. King swims at Indiana and, unlike Ledecky and Manuel, the money she might be able to earn in endorsements doesnt figure to make leaving college an absolute no-brainer. ' ' '
