WASHINGTON - The San Diego Padres have placed catcher Yasmani Grandal on the 60-day disabled list with a sprained right knee, and selected catcher Rene Rivera from Triple-A Tucson. Grandal was injured Saturday in the third inning of the Padres 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals when Anthony Rendon slid into Grandals right leg at the plate, twisting the catchers knee.
