Free agent Carlos Beltran has agreed to a one-year deal worth $16 million with the Houston Astros, a source told ESPNs Buster Olney on Saturday. The deal also includes a full no-trade clause, according to the source. The move adds to a busy offseason for the Astros, who have boosted their lineup by trading for Yankees catcher Brian McCann?and signing free-agent outfielder Josh Reddick.Houston missed the playoffs this year after winning the AL wild card in 2015.The switch-hitting Beltran, who turns 40 in April, was the top player in the deadline-selling Yankees lackluster offense this past season before being traded to the?Texas Rangers?on Aug. 1 for?right-hander Dillon Tate and two other pitching prospects. He led the Yankees with a .304 batting average, 22 homers and 64 RBIs, and he finished the year with 29 homers, 93 RBIs and 163 hits. He?split his time as a designated hitter and right fielder. The nine-time All-Star signed a $45 million, three-year contract before the 2014 season but played with an elbow bone spur during much of his first season in New York and got off to a slow start in 2015 following surgery.Beltran was traded from Kansas City to Houston in June 2004, and he hit a record-tying eight homers in 12 games during the NL playoffs while batting .435 with 14 RBIs.He also was traded from the New York Mets to San Francisco in July 2011. While he has appeared in the playoffs with the Astros, Mets, Cardinals, Yankees and Rangers, Beltran remains in search of his first World Series title.Beltran has a .281 career average with 414 home runs.Led by middle infielders Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa and ace Dallas Keuchel, the Astros ended a decade-long playoff drought -- and reversed a four-year span in which they averaged well over 100 losses -- by winning the AL wild card in 2015. Expected to be a championship contender this year, Houston instead went 84-78 and missed the playoffs. The Astros have been busy since then, signing Reddick to a $52 million, four-year deal after he finished the season with the Dodgers and getting McCann, a seven-time All-Star, in a trade with the Yankees. The Astros got $11 million from the Yankees to help cover the $34 million total hes set to make in the next two seasons.Along with his production on the field, Beltran has long been praised for his clubhouse influence and leadership, especially among young teammates. Beltran also runs an academy back home in Puerto Rico, where students focus on academics as well as athletics. The Associated Press contributed to this report.Where Can Buy Cheap Jerseys . At a Manhattan federal court hearing, attorney Jordan Siev said his law office has gotten more evidence nearly every day to support its lawsuit accusing MLB and Selig of going on a "witch hunt" to ruin Rodriguezs reputation and career. He said the defendants went "way over the line.TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Jonathan Allen returned a fumble 30 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter to help No. 1 Alabama beat sixth-ranked Texas A&M 33-14 Saturday. The Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) moved on as the powerhouse leagues last unbeaten team, getting yet another in a long string of defensive scores. Allen, a lineman, scooped up the ball after Ryan Anderson knocked it loose from Keith Ford to finally build a cushion over the Aggies (6-1, 4-1), who led 14-13 well into the third. It was 20-14 when Allen extended Alabamas streak to 10 games with a score on defense or special teams, half the duration of a winning streak now at 20 going into an open date.I think that was the real turning point in the game, because it changed the momentum of the game, Tide coach Nick Saban said. Those plays are always huge in games, but that one was especially huge. However, the Tide defense sustained a big loss when safety Eddie Jackson was injured in the fourth quarter and didnt come back after punt return. Saban said Jackson, a senior and team leader, is out for the season with a broken leg.Alabamas freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts then galloped 37 yards for another score, stepping out of a defenders grasp and making a nifty move to get past another. The Tide was rolling again, a powerful encore to easy wins over ranked Tennessee and Arkansas teams. The Aggies seemed likely to put up the biggest fight, with a defense that kept the pressure on Hurts and a handful of big runs by quarterback Trevor Knight. Then Allen and Anderson changed that in an instant. Costly penalties hurt the Aggies too, including a roughing the passer penalty to keep Alabamas go-ahead touchdown drive going. You really have five minutes in the game that determined what happened, Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said. We extended the ddrive with the roughing the passer, then we extended the drive again, I think it was an offsides.dddddddddddd. So you back that up with a fumble returned for a touchdown in a game like this, against a team like that, that cant happen.Alabama racked up five sacks of Knight, who had engineered Oklahomas Sugar Bowl upset of Alabama as a redshirt freshman with a 348-yard, four-touchdown performance. He passed for 164 and ran for 24 in the semi-rematch.Hurts passed for 166 yards and rushed for 93 more, throwing for a pair of touchdowns while getting intercepted twice. Damien Harris rushed 17 times for 126 yards.Alabama had retaken the lead on Hurts 4-yard TD pass to Calvin Ridley.THE TAKEAWAYTexas A&M: The Aggies led deeper into the game than any other `Bama opponent, the 6:33 mark of the third quarter. Knight made some plays with his running but was also given little time to hit receivers downfield by Allen & Co. Knight threw a pick on the first play after the defense intercepted Hurts in Alabama territory. The SECs top running team was held to 114 yards.Alabama: Dominated the stat sheet (303 yards to 150) in the first half but settled for two short field goals and Adam Griffith missed a third. It was enough to keep it in doubt. The defense gave up back-to-back long TD drives late in the second quarter and to open the third, but delivered big plays when it had to.POLL IMPLICATIONSAlabama was already a near-unanimous No. 1 , but this could cause the lone holdout voter to reconsider. Texas A&M shouldnt veer too far out of the Top 10 despite the lopsided final score.UP NEXTAlabama: has an open date before visiting No. 25 LSUTexas A&M: gets a break from SEC games against New Mexico State.
