PHOENIX -- With his team struggling to score runs behind him, Cliff Lee pitched in himself. Lee threw seven scoreless innings and helped out with three sacrifice bunts as the Philadelphia Phillies beat Arizona 3-1 Saturday night, ending the Diamondbacks five-game winning streak. "It feels good to bunt a guy over and watch him score," said Lee, who said he hadnt been asked to bunt in three straight plate appearances before. "It makes you feel like you contributed." In fact, twice Lees bunts set up runs. Lee (4-2) gave up six hits, struck out three and walked two in winning consecutive road starts for the first time since August 2011. Philadelphia had been shut out in two of Lees past starts and the Phillies have scored 23 runs total in his seven starts -- eight coming in one game. "I just need to keep grinding and give the team a chance to win every time," he said. The Diamondbacks threatened against Lee only once, loading the bases with two outs in the seventh while trailing 2-0 before Wil Nieves grounded out. "I really didnt pay attention to the bullpen, to be honest with you," Lee said. "I never want to come out, and with the bases loaded, for sure." Jimmy Rollins had two hits and drove in two runs. Domonic Brown added an RBI single in the seventh for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game losing streak. "I usually have success when I get runners on, though not so much this year," Rollins said. "Obviously, you adjust your swing because youve got to get a good swing first. Now that Im starting to get there, the confidence comes that I can put on the same swing in any situation." Jonathan Papelbon pitched the final 1 2-3 innings for his sixth save in as many chances. The Diamondbacks put runners on second and third against Papelbon with one out in the ninth. He struck out pinch-hitter Eric Hinske and A.J. Pollock for his first five-out save since July 14, 2012, at Colorado. Pollock had doubled twice earlier. "Yeah, I asked him to do it," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "But I dont like doing that." Arizona starter Trevor Cahill (2-4) could commiserate with Lees lack of offensive support. The Diamondbacks have scored 22 runs in his seven starts, nine coming in a 9-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 6. "We had a chance to win tonight but things didnt go our way," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said. "Any runs that they tacked on, you know its going to make it tougher on yourself." Cahill allowed only three hits and one run in five innings, struck out five but walked four. "I felt like I was fighting myself the whole time," Cahill said. The Phillies manufactured a run to take a 1-0 lead in the fifth. Ben Revere walked, was sacrificed to second by Lee, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly to deep centre by Rollins. Philadelphia made it 2-0 in the seventh when Revere singled off Josh Collmenter, stole second, moved up on Lees third bunt and scored when Rollins singled. Michael Young walked and later scored on Browns single against Tony Sipp in the eighth to extend the Phillies lead to 3-0. "We just need to stay balanced," Manuel said. "We dont need to get down or anything. We need to stay even-keeled and come out every day like were going to hit, keep your head up and keep going at it. If you dont hit, there aint anything you can do about it but go out and try to be more prepared the next day." FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots shredded the NFLs No. 1 defense early on, opening up a 20-point halftime lead.Thats when the Ravens special teams got them back in the game.Baltimore forced fumbles on back-to-back return plays early in the third quarter and twice took advantage of a short field to turn the halftime deficit into a one-score game. But Tom Brady connected with Chris Hogan on a 79-yard touchdown pass and the Patriots held on to win 30-23.Our special teams stepping up and making those plays. They were huge plays, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. Its always a play here or a play there that makes the difference. The Ravens entered the week with the NFLs top-ranked defense, allowing an average of just 296.1 yards per game. But Brady threw for 406 yards and LeGarrette Blount ran for 72 to surpass 1,000 yards for the season.Blount also collected his franchise record-tying 14th touchdown of the season on a 1-yard run in the first quarter that gave New England a 9-0 lead .Baltimore fell behind 16-0, and it was 23-3 when the Ravens went three-and-out and brought on Sam Koch to punt. Returner Cyrus Jones let the ball land, and it nicked his foot as it bounced toward the goal line; Jones and Chris Moore chased after the ball, but Moore got to it first and recovered at the 3.Two plays later, Joe Flacco connected with Darren Waller for the touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, Patrick Onwuasor stripped the ball from returner Matthew Slater for another fumble . The one that hit his foot, he couldnt get to it in time and he tried to move out of the way.It wasnt all good from the Ravens special teams, though.Justin Tuckers 34-yard field goal attempt was blocked when Patriots linebacker Shea McClellin jumped over the center and landed in the backfield.I dont know what happens in their meetings, but the guy made a good play on the ball, said Tucker, whose onside kick in the final minutes was easily recovered by the Patriots, enabling them to run out the clock.Brady helped his stats with a 61-yard catch-and-run by James White and the 79-yard play-action that left Hogan wide open deep down the middle of the field .Its something that we preach about, through the whole OTAs, camp, preseason and all that. We want to eliminate big plays. We had a bust, Ravens linebacker Zach Orr said. If you miss an assignment, Tom Brady and those guys will exploit that to the max.But Brady also threw an interception in the end zone right before halftime, costing the Patriots a scoring chance. We turned the ball over three times tonight. Three situations that I would say were pretty preventable, coach Bill Belichick said when asked about Jones fumbling problems. Well work on it with everybody.
